The 10th anniversary edition of the Bollywood Music Project in Mumbai hit a sour note on October 24 when singer Shilpa Rao’s highly anticipated performance was abruptly cut short. Due to a significant production delay, the songstress was unable to complete her set, leaving both the artist and her dedicated fan base disappointed. The sudden interruption left the venue in a state of confusion, cutting the evening’s musical momentum significantly.

Taking to Instagram shortly after the event, the National Film Award-winning singer shared her raw emotions regarding the incident. Shilpa revealed that a “little piece” of her heart broke when the music was forced to stop. Despite the technical cutoff, she was deeply moved by the audience, who continued to chant her name in support even after the sound system failed. “The way you kept calling my name, the love in your voices. I could feel it all. Our story tonight was left unfinished,” she wrote, promising her Mumbai fans that she would return for a proper show.

Known for her soulful voice and chart-topping hits, Shilpa Rao has been a staple in the industry since her 2007 debut with Tose Naina from the film Anwar. Her career trajectory soared with the massive success of Khuda Jaane from Bachna Ae Haseeno, eventually leading to iconic tracks like Bulleya from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Ghungroo from War, and the recent blockbuster Chaleya from Jawan. While the production mishap at the Bollywood Music Project left fans wanting more, the singer’s heartfelt tribute to her audience has only strengthened the bond with her followers.
