  • Ranbir Kapoor debuts an intense and battle scarred look in Sanjay Leela Bhansali Love and War poster

Ranbir Kapoor debuts an intense and battle scarred look in Sanjay Leela Bhansali Love and War poster

The wait for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next magnum opus just got a lot more intense. On Thursday, the makers of the highly anticipated period drama Love and War finally pulled back the curtain, giving fans their first look at Ranbir Kapoor’s character. Trading his usual suave persona for something far more rugged, Ranbir looks every bit the part in a retro avatar that screams mystery and drama.

In the striking new poster, Ranbir is captured sitting in the driver’s seat of a vintage turquoise convertible, framed against a backdrop of classic architecture. His look is a masterclass in period detailing: a sharp buzz cut with slicked-back hair, a thin pencil moustache, and round sunglasses, all pulled together by a simple light-coloured knit polo. However, it is the visceral details that steal the show. Ranbir’s left arm, resting casually outside the car door, is heavily bruised and bloodied, featuring a clear gunshot wound. Despite the grim injuries, his expression remains eerily calm, leaving audiences buzzing with questions about the turmoil his character is facing.

True to the signature style of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production, the reveal was accompanied by an evocative musical score, teasing the visual and auditory spectacle the filmmaker is known for. The makers shared the poster across social media with the caption, “Woh rutba, woh raub, woh junoon!” alongside the official release date of January 21, 2027. The project, which also features Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles, is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, marking a massive cinematic event for fans of the trio.

  • Dhanush delays OM Chapter 1 to avoid box office clash with Rajinikanth and Suriya

Dhanush delays OM Chapter 1 to avoid box office clash with Rajinikanth and Suriya

In a move that has earned him plenty of praise from industry insiders, National Film Award winner Dhanush has officially pushed back the release of his highly anticipated film, OM: Chapter 1. Originally scheduled to hit theatres on October 16, the film has been pulled from its slot to ensure it does not go head-to-head with some of the biggest names in South Indian cinema. Dhanush took to his X handle to share a heartfelt note explaining the decision, citing mutual respect as the primary driver behind the move.

The primary reason for the delay is the proximity to the release of Rajinikanth’s upcoming sequel, Jailer 2. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and featuring Vidya Balan, the superstar’s film is set to premiere on October 15. Dhanush expressed his deep admiration for the veteran actor, stating that out of respect for the man he has worshipped for years, it was only right to step aside. He emphasized that in an industry where scheduling conflicts are common, making space for a legend like Rajinikanth was a simple choice.

Beyond the clash with Rajinikanth, Dhanush also confirmed that OM: Chapter 1 will not be arriving during the Diwali window. This decision was made to avoid competing with Suriya’s upcoming project, which is scheduled for a November 6 release. Dhanush noted that since the team behind Suriya’s film had already locked their date, it was only fair to step back to ensure both films have the breathing room they deserve. He highlighted that big-budget films should operate with mutual understanding to support the overall welfare of the industry.

Directed by Rajkumar Perisamy, OM: Chapter 1 remains one of the most talked-about projects, especially with the legendary Mammootty also featuring in a prominent role. Meanwhile, Suriya’s upcoming film, directed by Jithu Madhavan, sees the star stepping into the shoes of a cop alongside a cast that includes Nazriya Nazim, Naslen, Anandraj, Lal, and Raj Priyan. While fans will have to wait a little longer to see Dhanush on screen, the actor has promised to announce the new release date for his film in the very near future.
